About

Black Leaders Advocating for the Community (BLAC) is a network of representatives from different areas of the community including churches, sororities, fraternities, civic groups, nonprofits, and educational institutions. In early 2015 a call went out for Black organizations and business leaders to meet. The individuals met in March of that year for its first meeting to discuss ways the represented businesses and organizations could work together to communicate resources and implement initiatives that benefit the community. In the first year, the group agreed upon a name, mission, vision, focus areas, constitution, officers, and communication means. BLAC now meets every other month to discuss resources available for the community and ways they can work together as individuals or with their organizations.
